Sara Fanelli is one of the world's most distinctive and idiosyncratic picture book creators. Born and raised in Florence, she now lives in north London. Her acclaimed title Dear Diary received an Honourable Mention from the 2001 Bologna Ragazzi Award Jury. Sara's interpretation of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio won the best overall prize in the V&A Illustration Awards and the First Prize in the Book Cover and Jacket Illustration Prize category in 2004. Pinocchio also won the British Book Design and Production Award in the children's category. SARA FANELLI
I don't remember when I discovered A. Fanelli's work. But I love it! I am a big fan of her and I have a lot of her books. I love how she mix textures, caligraphy... and how she creates her characters!
I really like her collage style. Simply, I love to watch her work because I get excited when I watch it. She has a strong style, very particular, naif and children´s style. Even I remember the first time that I went to the Tate modern in London, and I saw her caligraphy in the walls, indicating the artists in the gallery. Amazing!
