Stage 1. Analysis of my artefact

Then we discussed the purpose (the reason for why it exists), form, origin, and maker (designer/illustrator) of the objects...

So we classify our objects into the next groups:

1. Essential/ non-essential
2. Information/ instruction/ pleasure
3. Advertising/ apparel/ games/ signare/ branding/ poster/ film-tv/ publishing/ identity/ interface/ packaging/ other
4. Local/ national/ global

Classification of my products:

Tomato sauce tag: non-essential (non- essential if we think that we don´t need a tomato tag for living. But if cans wouldn´t have any tag... how we could know what is inside of every can when we shop?)/ information/ identity/ local.

Sara Fanelli´s book: non-essential/ pleassure/ publishing/ national.

As you can see in the previous picture, most of the objects that we brought are non essential, for pleasure and of publishing.
I think this point was very interesting to discuss. If we are objetives with the meaning of non-essential (definition of essential: vitally important; absolutely necessary basic; fundamental), we understand essential as vitally important as the food. If we don´t eat, we die.
But how flexible is the essential word? if we discard non-essencial things, we discard  almost  everything, because no so many things are essential in life.
But some people need music for life, traveling, movies... because life is not just breath and eat. In my opinion life is enjoy and be happy. And some people make some products essential to their lifes. As music in a beautiful cd-box.
So, as a graphic designers we want to design that products that complement our lifes, as cd boxes, books, nice shopping bags, etc.
