For the first session we brought a designed artefact of personal
significance. A survey of these objects should give us an idea of individual
interests and possible signposts for future careers. In a circle everyone give a brief verbal description of our items and why we chose it.
I have brought two artefacts: a tomato sauce tag and a children book, as you can see in the follow images.
Why have I chosen these artefacts?
I finished my studies as illustrator four years ago but always I have been really interested in design. So this is the reason that I started to study Graphic Communication. But since I started to study it, I confirmed that I am more Illustrator that a graphic designer.
I love to watch design works of others. Even when I go to dinner to some restaurant always I pay attention how is the menu designed, if the tipography, color palette, design, etc is accord with the identity of the restaurant. Also how is printed or bind it.
I love how some designers can simplify to design some amazing icons.
I love it. I really love the design, but my true passion is the illustration. I have drawn all my life and I feel really confortable with my dirty hands. Take a brush, watercolor and color pencils and to try tell stories.
So, why a children book and a tomato sauce tag?
Personally, children book is my "top ten". I can spend hours in book shops watching children books. Even I have hundreds at home, because I can not resist buying them and make them mine.
In this occasion I chose a Sara Fanelli book. But I could have chosen any other. Oliver Jeffers, Elena Odriozola, Javier Zavala, Noemí Villamuza, Isidro Ferrer, Marta Altés, Julio Antonio Blasco, Isol, Emily Gravet, Timothy Basil Ering, Jhon Klassen, Chris Haughtom, Katsumi Komagata, Suzy Lee... and a long etc. It is amazing how many diferent styles and all of them so wonderful.
So, my dream would be illustrate stories and be in a book store with them in a future.
But also I would love to be in a tomato sauce tag, tea box or in a restaurant menu. Because I love how some products can persuade by their images.
